The retail sector in India is one of the most challenging and therefore the most promising in the world. Global brands are attracted by the huge market available which is still catered to by the unorganised family run wholesale and retail enterprises.
Yet the sector has frustrated the most resilient of retail companies. Global and domestic players are yet to establish themselves for the long run. Some have given up, packed their bags and gone back home. Some fight on with the hope that one day there will be success.
Having spent four years in this industry, I feel it is the right time to share my views on the sector. Sharing my experiences and views will also help me to maintain a record of how the industry is shaping up and connect the dots at a future date.
I sign off my first post with the usual caveat of these being my personal views and not those of the organisation I work for!
